| | The Bishop was gone today, so our welfare meeting was quite short. In the Fast and Testimony meeting six of the Vanables and relatives bore their testimonies, due to Shalynn and Marcos’s sealing on Friday. I went up and said that even though I was not a Venable I still had a testimony of the truth. Brother Howe had testified of the need to hold on tightly to our testimonies, which I agree with, but I felt the need to say that our testimonies are like hands full of water, which no matter how tightly we hold our hands the water always leaks slowly, and the water needs to constantly added to by scripture reading, prayer, service, etc. Karen went to the Melbourne Ward and heard many immigrants testify of the greatness of this country, that the Gospel could be restored here and that they could believe in the truth. Brother Cook taught an excellent SS lesson on recognizing and overcoming the evil spirits that tempt us and seek for our misery. The Elders met with the High Priests, since the whole Elders presidency was out of town. We studied Elder Bednar’s talk from conference on Temples. Kevin attended the Sacrament of the 1pm ward and I missed seeing him before he took off to visit a friend, eat at Janet’s, and then head back to San Antonio. We had a quiet evening. |
